Code Melanin is Canada’s first wellness and career community for Black healthcare professionals. We aim to grow our visibility through engaging digital content and event materials. Students will: Learn our brand and target audience. Create short-form video and graphic content for Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn. Design marketing materials such as event posters and one-pagers Schedule and track content performance across platforms Bonus: Recommend strategies to repurpose content and boost community engagement.

Mobile App Development and Prototype

Code Melanin is a community-driven platform designed to connect Black healthcare professionals across Canada through social networking, career advancement opportunities, and wellness-focused events. We are developing a mobile-optimized web app to enhance engagement, accessibility, and user experience. We would like to work with students to develop both a Figma prototype and a mobile-optimized web app that reflects our branding, community-building objectives, and user needs. This project will involve several key steps, including: Researching and recommending web hosting platforms based on the app’s goals, scalability, and ease of maintenance. Conducting a needs analysis to determine key features and design elements based on customer data and user experience best practices. Designing a user-friendly and visually appealing Figma prototype that aligns with Code Melanin’s branding and community-focused mission. Developing a mobile-optimized web app that ensures smooth navigation, functionality, and responsiveness across devices. Bonus steps may include: Testing prototypes with potential users and refining the design based on feedback. Providing recommendations for future improvements or additional features. By the end of this project, we expect to have a functional Figma prototype and a mobile-optimized web app that can serve as the foundation for Code Melanin’s digital presence.

Digital Content Creation

Code Melanin is building a vibrant online presence to engage and connect Black healthcare professionals across Canada. To support this goal, we are recruiting interns to take on the role of Content Creator or Digital Media Assistant to develop high-quality digital content and manage our social media channels. We would like to work with students to create engaging and informative content that aligns with Code Melanin’s mission, enhances brand visibility, and fosters an active online community. This project will involve several key steps, including: Writing compelling and informative blog posts related to healthcare, career development, and wellness for Black professionals. Producing multimedia content such as videos, graphics, and reels to enhance social media engagement. Managing social media accounts by creating content calendars, scheduling posts, and interacting with the community. Designing marketing materials such as promotional graphics, event flyers, and digital ads to support outreach efforts. Bonus steps may include: Conducting audience engagement analysis and optimizing content based on performance metrics. Developing strategies to grow Code Melanin’s online presence and increase follower engagement. By the end of this project, interns will gain hands-on experience in digital content creation, social media strategy, and brand marketing , helping to expand Code Melanin’s digital reach.
